New Solutions for the Medical Device Industry: Invibio Biomaterials, Shockwave Medical and Argon Medical Devices Lead the Way
Invibio Biomaterial Solutions, part of Victrex, recently launched PEEK-OPTIMA AM Filament, an implantable-grade PEEK polymer developed for Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) and Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) additive manufacturing processes.[0] This launch provides a highly reliable and safe material for medical device manufacturers.
Shockwave Medical, Inc. has also recently announced the full U.S. commercial availability of the Shockwave L6 Peripheral IVL Catheter after receiving clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).[1] Shockwave Medical is focused on developing and commercializing products intended to transform the way calcified cardiovascular disease is treated.[2] The Shockwave L6 catheter is designed to modify calcification in otherwise difficult-to-treat lesions in large peripheral vessels, including the iliac and the common femoral arteries.[2]
Argon Medical Devices, a manufacturer of medical device solutions for interventional radiology, vascular surgery, interventional cardiology, and oncology, has introduced its Traveler Portal Vein Access Series for transjugular liver access in diagnostic and interventional procedures.[3] The Traveler series includes Traveler 16, Traveler 21, and Traveler 38 and is now available in the United States and Canada.[3]
Aurora Cannabis has partnered with MedReleaf Australia to provide new and innovative cannabis products for Australian patients. Through this partnership, Aurora Cannabis is leading the way in the Australian market and is committed to building its strategic international growth plans in this market.
Finally, Shockwave Medical also announced the full commercial availability of their Shockwave L6 IVL catheter, which is optimized for large vessel cases. The L6 catheter features a compact emitter configuration, in conjunction with four new device sizes (8.0, 9.0, 10.0 and 12.0 millimeter diameters), that enables effective delivery of sonic pressure waves in larger vessels.[1] The Shockwave L6 catheter enhances the company’s peripheral IVL portfolio, extending the size offerings of the Shockwave M5+ and Shockwave S4 catheters, to provide physicians with a choice of catheters optimized for the challenges of infrapopliteal, femoropopliteal and iliac arterial territories.
