New Product Launches Improve Care in Medical Device Industry
Shockwave Medical, Inc. has announced the full U.S. commercial availability of the Shockwave L6 Peripheral IVL Catheter following clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).[0] This catheter is purpose-built to modify calcification in otherwise difficult-to-treat lesions in large peripheral vessels, including the iliac and the common femoral arteries.[1]
The Shockwave L6 catheter's compact emitter configuration, in conjunction with four new device sizes (8.0, 9.0, 10.0 and 12.0 millimeter diameters), enables effective delivery of sonic pressure waves in larger vessels.[0] The Shockwave L6 is an addition to the company's IVL peripheral portfolio, providing physicians with a selection of catheters designed to handle the difficulties of infrapopliteal, femoropopliteal, and iliac arterial territories. This development expands the size range of the Shockwave M5+ and Shockwave S4 catheters.[1]
Meanwhile, Argon Medical Devices — a manufacturer of medical device solutions for interventional radiology, vascular surgery, interventional cardiology, and oncology — recently introduced its Traveler Portal Vein Access Series as the newest addition to its portfolio.[2] The products, which are intended for transjugular liver access in diagnostic and interventional procedures, are available in stylet and needle offerings to meet physician preference.[2]
The Traveler Series includes three versions, Traveler16, Traveler21, and Traveler38, that are now available in the United States and Canada.[3] Traveler16 can be found as a 16Ga needle, Traveler38 is offered in a 0.038” stylet, and Traveler21 is supplied as a 21Ga Chiba needle.[3]
The launch of these products is driven by the mission to improve the lives of patients and caregivers through the innovation, manufacturing, and delivery of best-in-class medical devices. The products may have a positive impact on portal access procedures and outcomes, and could help simplify complex portal vein access procedures.
These new product launches further demonstrate the commitment to innovation and improved care in the medical device industry.
